CDC Updated Gardasil 9 Schedule to require only 2 doses for children under 15 years old

Immunization Update

Good News – CDC Updated Gardasil 9 Schedule to require only 2 doses for children under 15 years old.

In October 2016, ACIP updated HPV vaccination recommendations regarding the dosing schedules. The CDC now recommends two doses of HPV vaccine six months apart for persons starting the vaccination series before their 15thbirthday. Three doses are still recommended for children over 15 with the 2nddose 1-2 months later and 3rd dose 6 months after the 1st dose.

If your child is over 15 years old and has completed the Gardasil series, this does not apply to you.

If your child is 11-14 years old and has not started the Gardasil series, this means your child only needs to have two doses 6-12 months apart to be fully covered by this vaccine.

If you are under 15 and have started the Gardasil series, you may only need two doses; depending on the timing of your first dose.
