Screen Time Linked to Increase Risk of Diabetes in Kids

A new study published in the British Medical Journal showed that the kids who spend more than three hours per day in front of devices such as smartphones and tablets, watching television, or playing video games are at greater risk to develop diabetes.  These children are more likely to have a higher percentage of body fat and are more resistant to insulin than those who spend less time engaging in such behavior.  Insulin is a hormone that allows sugar to be converted by the body to energy and resistance can lead to the development of diabetes.
